Why are secure connections over the SSLv2 or SSLv3 protocols refused?

As of 15 October 2014, our servers no longer accept connections over the SSLv2 and SSLv3 protocols. This restriction is due to the "Poodle" security vulnerability that was disclosed by Google on the same date. The SSLv2 and SSLv3 protocols are nearly 2 decades old and commonly used by outdated software of the same age. If your software is up-to-date, it should already support the TLS 1.x protocol and use it instead of SSLv3.

SSL connections are of course still supported through the TLS 1.x protocol, which is more secure.

Due to security reasons, we strongly encourage everyone to no longer use the SSLv2 and SSLv3 protocols and use the TLS 1.x protocol instead.
